TE Connectivity Expands Automotive Connector Production in Central Europe for Q1 2027

TE Connectivity announced significant investments to boost its automotive connector manufacturing capacity in Central Europe. This expansion, slated for completion by Q1 2027, aims to meet rising demand from the automotive sector, particularly for high-voltage and data connectivity solutions.

TE Connectivity, a global leader in connectivity and sensor solutions, has initiated a substantial capacity expansion project for its automotive connector lines in Central Europe. The multi-million dollar investment is strategically positioned to bolster production volumes for high-reliability automotive connectors, with a primary focus on components for electric vehicles (EVs) and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). The ramp-up is expected to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2027, providing enhanced supply stability to automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 suppliers across the European continent.

The project addresses the persistent bottlenecks observed in the supply chain for specialized automotive interconnects, fueled by the accelerating transition to electric powertrains and the increased data processing requirements of connected cars. TE's expansion specifically targets high-voltage power connectors, essential for EV battery management systems and charging infrastructure, as well as high-speed data connectors critical for ADAS sensors, infotainment, and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication modules. This proactive measure aims to preempt potential supply shortfalls that could impede automotive production schedules in the medium term.

Procurement managers in the automotive sector should note this development as a positive indicator for future supply chain resilience in critical connector categories. While specific volume increases were not disclosed, TE Connectivity emphasized the strategic importance of localized production to mitigate geopolitical risks and optimize logistics costs. The expansion is also expected to incorporate advanced automation technologies, improving manufacturing efficiency and ensuring consistent product quality for the demanding automotive environment. This move solidifies TE's commitment to supporting the automotive industry's technological evolution and provides a more robust supply foundation for new vehicle platforms.
